Here is what to do if you use Hyper-V RC0 or RC1 and want to update to Hyper-V RTM. I did this recently with my server.
- Apply the snapshot you want to take with you to RTM
- Start the virtual machine with this snapshot applied
- Shutdown your virtual machine
- Delete all Snapshots
- Wait for the merge to complete
- Uninstall the Hyper-V role with the Server Manager
- Logon to the server
- Wait for the Configuration Wizard to complete (it starts automatically)
- Apply the update details.aspx-FamilyId=F3AB3D4B-63C8-4424-A738-BADED34D24ED&displaylang=en
- Restart the server
- Logon to the server
- Add the Hyper-V role with the Server Manager
- Restart the server
- Wait for the Configuration Wizard to complete (it starts automatically)
- Your virtual machines should be there after the update
- Reconnect your virtual machines to the virtual network
- Start your virtual machines
- Insert the Integration Services Setup Disk and update the Integration Services
- Restart the virtual machine
Done.
By the way: I did not need to reactivate my virtual machines.
